HBO is in love and they don't care who knows it, or who's even watching the show.

Vinyl has officially been renewed for a second season, after its first and only episode so far was watched by less than 800,000.

Despite those less-than-ideal numbers, the renewal is not that big of a surprise, given the fact that the show comes from executive producers Martin Scorcese and Mick Jagger and features a strong cast including Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, and Ray Romano. Scorcese directed the two-hour pilot and has plans to direct more episodes in the series.

Vinyl takes place "at the dawn of punk, disco, and hip-hop" in the early 1970s, and stars Cannavale as a record label president who is trying to save both his record company and his soul from the drug-addled music business. The first season will consist of 10 episodes, and the second season will likely be the same.
