There is no replacing Derek McDreamy Shepherd. You know this, we know this, Shonda Rhimes knows this.

But has the prolific Grey's Anatomy creator already delivered unto us a MerDer: The Next Generation? When Meredith's half-sister Maggie (Kelly McCreary) joined the cast of the long-running soap last season, and promptly began hooking up with hottie intern Andrew (newly-minted series regular Giacomo Gianniotti) this season, it certainly felt that way. And as Gianniotti told E! News, he see what we're seeing.

"I mean, certainly there's an element of the attendant sleeping with the intern, but I mean, Andrew's younger than her," he admitted. (We never said it had to be an exact recreation!) "But yes, certainly, there's certain parallels, of course."

So, what exactly is going on with Mandrew? Aggie? (We need to decide on a couple name, shippers!) Allow Gianniotti to share his thoughts: "I think certainly Andrew has very strong feelings for Maggie and I think she has strong feelings for him as well. I think they might be on different pages in terms of how a relationship at work is supposed to operate," he said. "I think Maggie is definitely holding the reins in the relationship and wearing the pants. She's tossed some scraps to him and he's kind of lucky to get what he can have from her. She's older and his superior, so there's a lot of egg shells he has to walk on. It's an easier position for her to be in."

It's a safe bet that a DTR (define the relationship) will rear its dramatic little head in tonight's episode, as Maggie's set to take center stage following last week's traumatic, Mer-centric episode. This week, she and Callie (Sara Ramirez) perform a risky, experimental surgery on Karev's (Justin Chambers) 15-year-old patient against his medical opinion. Elsewhere, the hospital continues to deal with Meredeith's (Ellen Pompeo) trauma, while Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Nathan (Martin Henderson) remain at odds.

What do you think about Maggie and Nathan? Are they MerDer: TNG? Or will nothing else ever come close? Sound off in the comments below!
