We're not sure how to feel right now...

Welcome to modern romance, ladies and gentleman.

We've seen attempts at getting a scorned lover back in good graces in many movies, and it's usually through grand romantic gestures—multiple bouquets of flowers, a personalized song, a surprise visit late at night when it's raining (and they never have an umbrella, because it adds to the dramatic effect)—but in 2016, the way to get your ex's attention is apparently through Instagram.

Rapper Sage the Gemini took to the popular photo-sharing app to try and get ex-girlfriend Jordin Sparks' attention, who apparently has been dodging his calls since they broke up recently, through an open love letter (using that term loosely) via an Instagram caption.

Sharing an obvious throwback photo of the couple out at some function, Sage (real name Dominic Wynn Woods) let his fingers do all the talking with a lengthy, and candid, caption. You might find it desperate, you might find it a little cringe-worthy, you might find it endearing...whatever the case, one thing is true—this caption is #NoFilter.

"Can't sit here and act industry like this s--t don't hurt me. You the only girl I can call at 3 in the morning and you'll answer no problem. You the only girl that can wake up out of a dead sleep and get me some water because I was coughing in my sleep the only girl that loves me the way you were supposed to," he began.

"I miss you to much to watch you look so amazing at the Clyde Davis party and not be able to call you and express how much I appreciated the look because you won't answer nor text back the feeling is horrible. You see this picture?...... That's the picture of me lookin at n----s lookin at you and givin them the eye like 'wassup n---a' and you like it's ok babe and you makin me smile and feel just Alittle more secure about it."

Nope, he's not done. "Lol it kinda reminds me of the picture of the little lady standing in front of the hulk and being the only one that can calm him down that's you ya know? But yea this s--t is crazy i just wanna tell you I'm still being a good boy just incase you come to your senses. Valentine's Day was supposed to be a special day I wanted that to be our anniversary because it's your grandparents and maybe we could've double dated remember? Please call me back I just want like a hug and a kiss or something. Sincerely Dominic Wynn Woods"

And no, Sparks hasn't responded (publicly, anyway).

According to one insider, their relationship started off great in the beginning but as time went on Sparks was having trust issues—and Sage wasn't helping the matter any with his behavior.

They had previously been able to work things out, but not this time. Having gone through a rough breakup with long-term boyfriend Jason Derulo, Sparks just didn't want to go there again with Sage, the source previously told E! News.

The 26-year-old star, who was with Derulo for three years prior to dating Sage, also admitted that she's still figuring things out when it comes to life and love (as are most of us). "I feel like the 20s, you're learning who you are, you're figuring out really what you love, and what you like," she explained to us last summer.

So will she decide to call him back? Guess we'll have to stay tuned for the next episode of InstaLove: The Sage and Jordin Edition.
