Was it just us, or did the 2016 Grammys feel just a bit...off? You know that feeling you get when your sock is on wrong and/or slightly askew? That's kind of how it felt to watch the Grammys.
Some moments were adorably awkward, like Selena Gomez leaving Taylor Swift hanging on the red carpet. Some moments were kind of weird, but it wasn't really the fault of the celeb involved (lookin' at you, poor Adele). But then there were moments when you know everyone watching felt super uncomfortable. The Grammys are supposed to be one of the biggest, craziest, most entertaining award shows of the year. So what the hell did we just watch?!
We'll tell you what we just watched: a conveyor belt of uncomfortable situations that played out on live TV.
Like Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff celebrating their big win with a silly little handshake:
Or everyone sort of, kind of swaying together during the Lionel Richie tribute:
Then there was the time that Sofía Vergara kept dancing even when the music stopped:
But a few more seconds of Sofía dancing doesn't hurt anybody. Girls got moves!
Taylor also has moves. And by "moves," we mean copying Napoleon Dynamite's Happy Hands Club performance:
Suddenly, a wild Robin Thicke appears! And he's whispering Lionel Richie lyrics into his mom's ear:
Also, let's talk about Ariana Grande's pun about The Weeknd. She made the joke, and then she paused for the laughter that just never came:
So then she sang the lyrics to his song "Earned It," and followed it with a nervous giggle. You know it's bad when you have to explain why your joke is funny:
Then this happened:
This seemed like the plot to a Wild Hogs sequel or something. Wild Hogs 2: Dad Goes to Hot Topic.
Taylor Swift was more excited about Ed Sheeran's Grammy win than Ed Sheeran:
Those two are cute.
And after Sheeran finished his acceptance speech, Amy Wadge went to give hers and the Grammys were just like "Psych. None for you. Bye, thanks."
Adele's audio cut out during her performance which is honestly a crime on par with kidnapping the president:
Justin Bieber's facial hair situation was so distracting and unsettling:
And then he started dancing and we realized that maybe close-ups of his facial hair isn't so bad:
Kendrick Lamar looked bored:
So did Wiz Khalifa:
But nothing compares to Tori Kelly's face during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech:
Yikes. Well, that's basically how we felt during most of the Grammys broadcast.
Let's hope the Oscars aren't nearly as awkward. As always, we're ending our GIF recap with Amy Poehler's now iconic Emmys moment:
Peace out, guys.
