The Grammys may have missed a big opportunity by failing to have Adele join the star-studded Lionel Richie tribute, but it seems the two singers just made up for lost time in a big way.

First, let's backtrack a little bit. You probably remember the legendary memes that came out of Adele's first single release from her highly-anticipated album 25. First, Ellen DeGeneres had to get in on the fun, creating her hilarious spoof with that awesomely huge '90s-style phone.

Then of course Lionel Richie himself jumped into the game, wowing us all with his hilarious play on his own "Hello" jam.

HELLO @adele is it me you're looking for... ?? #hello

Now don't get us wrong, those moments were hilarious. But tonight Richie and Adele upped the ante by spoofing themselves in real life. During a commercial break the two singers couldn't resist putting their heads together. Or, make that Adele couldn't resist. According to super secret footage (otherwise known as the CBS audience cam), Adele ran up to Richie to presumably debate the merits of pronouncing it "hellooo" versus "hellllo."

We imagine their conversation went something like this...

Lionel: "Hello?"

Adele: "Hello?"

Lionel: "Hello?"

Adele: "Hello?"

...and you get the point. Thank you for this contribution to society, you two.
