Nicole Richie's 17-year-old sister Sofia Richie recently conquered a major fashion milestone and personal fear.
On Thursday, the teen model walked her first runway, wearing a red Tabitha Webb gown at the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection 2016 show during New York Fashion Week.
"I've just watched so many falling videos on YouTube that I'm petrified, especially since my dress is so long," Sofia told E! News' Catt Sadler exclusively before the event. "They had me in platforms but the falling theory was in my head, so I decided to choose my own shoes."
Sofia had previously attended many fashion and celebrity events over the years, including shows at attended New York Fashion Week last year, but solely as a spectator. The model, who has posed for many photo shoots and ads, told ELLE magazine in 2014, "I don't think I could ever do runway."
"I never thought I'd actually be in this position of ever walking the show and here I am," Sofia told Sadler.
Sofia is Lionel Richie's youngest child and Nicole, who is 34, is his eldest. The singer and his first ex-wife, Brenda Harvey, adopted Nicole when she was a child. He and second ex-wife Diane Alexander are parents to Sofia and her older brother, Miles Brockman Richie, 21.
Sofia told E! News her sister, a fashion designer, is one of her biggest style inspirations.
"Her style is just...I feel like that's kinda where I get it from," she said. "Growing up, I just like would sit in her closet and steal things behind her back."
During her interview with E! News, Sofia also talked about her plans for the upcoming Valentine's Day. The teen said she will make time in her busy New York Fashion Week schedule to fly back to Los Angeles to spend time with her boyfriend Jake Andrews.
"I'll be there in the morning, so we'll probably get breakfast," she said. "But then I have to come back here."
