Things are poised to get lethal on Fox. The network has ordered its Lethal Weapon TV remake to pilot with Damon Wayans as your new Roger Murtaugh. Danny Glover played the part in the original movies.

The pilot, a one-hour drama, hails from executive producers Matt Miller, Dan Lin, Jennifer Gwartz and McG. McG will direct a script from Miller.

Mel Gibson's role in the film, Martin Riggs, has yet to be cast for the series.

Wayans' other TV credits include My Wife and Kids, In Living Color and Damon.

Fox's Lethal Weapon follows Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs moving to Los Angeles after the loss of his wife and baby. In LA, he's partnered with Roger Murtaugh (Wayans), who is recovering from a "minor" heart attack and is supposed to avoid any stress in his life. If you've seen the films you know he's in for some stress.

Lethal Weapon is just one of many big screen properties that could make its way to the small screen. However, movie-to-TV adaptations don't have the best success track record. For more on what could be getting rebooted and revived, check out our handy guide.

Are you excited for more adventures of Murtaugh and Riggs, even if they're not played by Glover and Gibson?
