Fun aside, New York Fashion Week can be grueling—especially for models, who can be booked up to five or six shows a day. That's no spa day—a model's hair and skin goes through the beauty ringer. How do beauties, like Karlie Kloss, keep it together, especially when it comes to their tresses?

It's a little hair growth supplement called Viviscal.

The vitamin is drug-free and contains AminoMar (a marine-based complex that promotes hair growth), biotin (for protein), vitamin C (to help you absorb more iron) and, well, iron (a key ingredient for strong strands).

Pro: It's especially great for thinning hair but also strengthens and promotes growth for other types of tresses as well. No wonder runway walkers like Karlie, Jessica Stam and Caroline Trentini can't get enough of this product, according to Into the Gloss.

Con: It tastes like the ocean (and not in a good way), probably from the shark and mollusk powder infused in the marine complex. And if you're a vegetarian, this product is probably not for you.

Pro: It's tried and tested (not just by this writer or supermodels) but on regular people since 1999. Even some research backs up the Viviscal's effective claim.

Con: Once you stop using it, your hair starts to revert back to its original state. [Ed note: This editor felt like she was losing some strands]. At $50 a pop for a monthly supply, this can get pretty pricey.

Takeaway: It works—at least for this writer and many ladies walking the NYFW runways this season. Of course, it may not be suited for everyone. We can't all be long-legged beauties—but we can have model hair.
