Gilmore Girls is welcoming yet another important man in Lorelai and Rory's life back for its highly anticipated Netflix revival.
David Sutcliffe is the latest star from the original series to sign on for the reunion, E! News has confirmed. Sutcliffe appeared throughout the series as the lovable-but-sometimes-frustrating Christopher Hayden, Lorelai's ex and Rory's father.
While we don't know how many of the four episodes Sutcliffe will appear in, he joins Scott Patterson, Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia and Matt Czuchry on the ever-growing list of Gilmore men set to reprise their roles.
Although news of the Gilmore Girls revival broke in October of 2015, Netflix didn't officially confirm its existence until the end of January, when E! News also broke scoop on the show's new characters. The first confirmed newbie to sign on to the show is Sutton Foster, who starred in Sherman-Palladino's ABC Family dramedy Bunheads.
Other returning cast members confirmed for the reboot include Kelly Bishop (Emily), Keiko Agena (Lane), Sean Gunn (Kirk), and Yanic Truesdale (Michel).
Yes, Melissa McCarthy is notably absent from that list—she tweeted that despite what Sherman-Palladino had said about not writing Sookie into the revival due to the actress' availability, no one ever reached out to her about appearing in the reboot (even if only for a hot second).
Talk of a scripted reboot began in June of 2015, when the entire cast (minus McCarthy) reunited at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas.
"Nobody here hates each other," Sherman-Palladino said at the time. "That's very important...If it ever happened, I promise you we'd do it correctly…It would have to be the right everything — the right format, the right timing, the right way. It would have to be honored in a certain way and I think that if you look around, we would all jump in and do it."
