The album formerly known as So Help Me God, Waves and SWISH is almost here.
But Kanye West has made sure that it doesn't drop without a fight for the best name possible in its maker's eyes. So on the eve of the album's release tomorrow, which is also the day of West's Yeezy Season 3 show at New York Fashion Week, he has finally revealed what T.L.O.P. stands for.
Get ready for...
The Life of Pablo.
And though it seems random, we think we know what West is going for with his seventh studio album.
"My goal, if I was going to do art, fine art, would have been to become Picasso or greater," West said last March in his speech to the Oxford Guild Society at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History in England.
"That always sounds so funny to people, comparing yourself to someone who has done so much, and that's a mentality that suppresses humanity. If I could have done it again I would have gone to the art institute over the American Academy.
"We have the resources as a civilization to make a utopia, but we're led by the most greedy and the least noble."
Picasso's first name being, of course, Pablo.
So it sounds as though Kanye has named his album, if this name does indeed stick, after one of his artistic idols.
And with the new name has come a new track list/reordering of the songs, which now unfold as follows:
"Ultra Light Beams"
"Father Stretch My Hands Pt 1 & Pt 2"
We're starting to sense the narrative here...especially regarding those last three songs. Is anyone else ready for this thing to just drop already (whether it's the best album of all time or not)?!
Meanwhile, one of Kanye's fans is apparently a mind-reader, because when he entreated his followers to guess what T.L.O.P. means, @easymoney227 nailed it.
But it doesn't look like Kanye has noticed yet!
Kanye, @easymoney227 totally gets you! Reach out and connect!
UPDATE: Yay! @easymoney227 got his Yeezy Season 3 tickets for his efforts.
