The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus, Michael Booker

Six seasons. 75 episodes. Countless walker kills. And a bunch of serious changes from the source material.

That's right—we're talking about The Walking Dead.

The AMC series may be one of the most successful comic book adaptations on TV ever, but the transition from page to screen hasn't 100 percent faithful. Folks still alive in the comics were dispatched seasons ago in the show. Some character backstories are entirely different depending on the medium. And particular characters were created wholesale for the series. We don't mean to alarm you, non-comics fans, but everyone's favorite Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus)? He doesn't exist in the books!

As you patiently await the big midseason premiere this Sunday, check out our gallery below for the 16 biggest changes The Walking Dead has made as it transitioned to the small screen. And be sure to sound off in the comments about the one that surprises you the most!

The Walking Dead returns Sunday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
