When pride gets in the way of saving the day, evil wins.

At least, that's the idea behind Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) preying upon the insecurities of rivals Bruce Wayne/Batman (Ben Affleck) and Clark Kent/Superman (Henry Cavill). The latest trailer for Warner Bros.' film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in theaters March 25, was released Thursday morning to much fanfare.

The DC Comics characters have different ideas about what it means to be a hero. While Batman chose to become the Caped Crusader, using his wealth to fund his valiant endeavors, Superman only became the Man of Steel when no one else stepped up to the plate. With the weight of the world resting on their shoulders, they lose sight of what's really important: people need their protection. In fact, it's not until a new villain emerges that they decide to team up and take Doomsday down—and just in the nick of time, Gal Gadot makes her debut as Wonder Woman.

Zack Snyder's blockbuster cost $200 million to make and stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Lauren Cohan as Martha Wayne, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Christina Wren as Major Carrie Farris. Jena Malone, Scoot McNairy and Callan Mulvey also appear in unspecified roles.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ushers in a series of spinoffs, beginning on June 23, 2017 with Wonder Woman. Other scheduled releases include Justice League: Part One on Nov. 17, 2017, The Flash on March 23, 2018, Aquaman on July 27, 2018, Justice League: Part Two on June 14, 2019, Cyborg on Apr. 3, 2020. Additional movies may be announced at a later date.

Suffice to say, superhero movies are here to stay.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is in theaters March 25.
