When it comes to popular haircuts, the lob (or long bob) is as trendy as they come.

To hairstylists everywhere it's considered the universal language of cuts because it literally looks good on everyone. That's why it's no surprise the style is sweeping the nation (as proven by all the times you've see one on any of your daily Instagram scrolls). Need more proof than that? Khloe Kardashian, Julianne Hough and Jenna Dewan-Tatum all have one (and that's only naming a few).

Let's get real for a second though because, as you all know, it's all fun and games until you leave the salon, wake up the next morning and realize you have no clue what to do with it. Enter this much-needed advice on how to style your cool new haircut.

Straight Hair, Don't Care: Starting with this straight style is probably the best jumping off point for you and your new ‘do. You're going to need to blow your hair out before you begin. If your hair is fine, you're going to need mousse and if your hair is curly or coarse use your go-to hair oil for a smoother blowout. Take a small dose of either, lather your hair with it, then turn on your blow dryer to dry it straight. The only other step to this is to grab a hair straightener and go to town. Easy, right?

Perfectly Tossed: When it comes to this hair style, you don't want to curl the roots or the ends of your hair. So, with a 1.5-inch curling iron (Hot Tools Big Bumper Curling Iron is a great one), you're going to curl each section of your hair in alternating directions without clamping down on the ends. Continue this until your whole head is done, then let the curls cool until they're no longer warm. Grab any texturizing spray or dry shampoo and blast the roots of your hair underneath every curled section. Then with your hands, shake it out! Once you're happy with the look, flip it to one side.

Girly Curls: If you've ever curled your hair before, this will be a breeze. The look is all about curling small sections at a time and then pumping up the volume with hair spray. With a 2-inch curling iron, take a tiny section of your hair and curl it tight. Clamp the iron on the ends of your hair then roll it up until it's at your roots. Hold it there for 10 seconds then repeat on your whole head. Once you're done, spray and seal it with hairspray. Your curls will drop a bit, but you'll have bouncy ringlets all-night long!
