Zayn Malik, Zane Lowe

One Direction might have been all about the a.m., but Zayn Malik is more interested in what's happening in the evening.

Shortly after releasing his first solo single, "Pillowtalk," Zayn gave fans a small taste of a new song, presumably called "Late Nights." Taking to Twitter Tuesday, Zayn shared a video of himself (shirtless, of course) jamming out to 10-seconds worth of the smoky-sounding ballad. Although you can't hear much of the tune, you can hear his smooth voice singing the words, "late nights."

Naturally, fans freaked out and are already itching for more, but they'll just have to wait. Zayn did, however, call into Z100's Morning Show and opened up about life after 1D, his first solo song and why he talks about s-e-x in the new hit.

"I feel good! I feel like that's the key thing in life, you know regardless of whatever it is that you do," he said of leaving the band. "You have to always remain true to yourself and do whatever makes you happy because at the end of the day, you answer to yourself so it's a good place to be in. I'm happy about the decision I made."

With songs such as "Pillowtalk" and "Late Nights," Zayn seems to be sticking with a sexual, after-hours vibe, but he told host Elvis Duran that isn't his whole purpose. "['Pillowtalk'] is about sex, there is obviously sex in a relationship. It's not the whole incentive of the song though," he explained.

"The actual intent of the song is even though you have great times in a relationship, you have really bad times as well but that's what makes it worth while because you learn things and you go through experiences that bring you closer together. That's the actual intent of the song. Obviously you have sex and sometimes you fight during the relationship, so I did mention that in the song but yeah, it's not solely about sex."

Fans had been hearing about Zayn's music for a long time, so even he can admit that finally releasing some new tunes has been a welcomed journey.

"Yeah, exciting times! I've been working on it for a long time now so even starting everything is really exciting this week," he added.
