Hey Melissa McCarthy! If you're out on the road, feeling lonely and so cold, all you have to do is call Amy Sherman-Palladino's name and she'll be there, writing you into the Gilmore Girls revival. At least that's what Sherman-Palladino said.

McCarthy, who played Sookie St. James for seven seasons of Gilmore Girls before she her star power took off, was noticeably absent from the show's big ATX reunion this summer and from the announced revival cast list (so far that includes confirmed names Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Keiko Agena and Sean Gunn). But there's hope. Sort of. Sherman-Palladino said they knew planning around McCarthy's busy schedule would be nearly impossible, but if she suddenly finds herself with some free time, she's more than welcome to return to Stars Hollow.

"She's really f--king busy," Sherman-Palladino told TVLine. "But the thing I have said [to her team] is, 'Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I'll write her a scene. Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set] — even if for just a cameo — we would be totally game. And if it's a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out. That's the way we left it."

So, you may see Sookie and Lorelai together again. Or not.

Other famous names who are still not officially confirmed for the revival include Liza WeilJared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia and Matt Czuchry. Yanic Truesedale, Michel on the show, tweeted he'd be back, but Netflix and Warner Bros. did not confirm his involvement.

Do you hope McCarthy shows up for even just a scene?

Gilmore Girls will return with four 90-minuteish episodes on Netflix. Each one is a new season of the year. No premiere date has been announced.
