As goes Jay Leno, so goes the network.

While it's ordinarily morning that becomes the Today show, NBC has announced plans for early risers Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Al Roker and Ann Curry to take their schtick to prime time with a year-end—and, unlike Leno, one-off—special next week.

The familiar foursome is set to serve as tag-team hosts of 2008: Today Looks Back, a Holiday Special, an hourlong wrap-up of the year's biggest events in news and pop culture. In a possible bid to give Barbara Walters a run for her prime-time money, the special will also count down the top five people of the last year.

So as not to stray too far from their televised roots, the show will also feature memorable bloopers from the past year on Today.

The special airs Dec. 22.
