Jordan Strauss/Invision/APLaverne Cox looked stunning at the 2016 SAG Awards red carpet in her Prabal Gurung gown, but dress talk wasn't the main topic of conversation with the star tonight.
The Orange Is the New Black actress used her position on the carpet to talk about something that desperately needs attention—the water crisis in Flint, Mich.
For those who are unaware, high levels of lead have poisoned the city's municipal water supply for at least a year, prompting extensive emergency measures to keep residents safe, and Cox used this platform to draw attention to the problem in hopes of raising awareness, funds and coming up with a solution.
"I made a commitment to treasure this moment, because I may not be here next year and there is a lot of crazy stuff happening in the world right now," she told E!'s Giuliana Rancic on Live From the Red Carpet.
"Speaking of crazy stuff. The people in Flint, Michigan, we donated water to the water fund. You can make a cash donation to the Flint Water Fund," the celeb added.
"You go to my Twitter page, @LaverneCox, you can see a link to make a donation and really I think the governor should resign, but that's a whole other issue. Sending love to the people at Flint, and let's do what we can. United States people should have good drinking water."
Rancic praised Cox's use of her role in the industry to discuss issues of the world that matter, to which the actress responded, "I wish I could do more, there is so much going on in the world, that I try to do what I can. But acting is my day job, so I kind of have to take care of that first. But yes, I feel blessed and it feels like a responsibility and for all of us who do have a platform to raise awareness around issues that are important."
