Watch: Will John Travolta Be Watching "Grease: Live"?

John Travolta is a veteran of live theater and has been performing for more than 40 years—but he isn't sure if he could handle performing a musical, live, on national television like the cast of Grease: Live is about to do on Sunday night.

"I don't know if I could do that! I did it on Broadway but I don't know if I could now do what those kids are about to do. I take my hat off to them for it," he told E! News' Kristin Dos Santos on the red carpet at the premiere of his acclaimed new FX drama, The People vs. OJ Simpson.

The fact that Grease is still such a major part of the pop culture consciousness is remarkable, and something Travolta definitely acknowledges.

"Every day that show is done by some school, some college, some New York production, some college, so it's a very familiar show to be done a lot. The difference is it's being done on national television, live, and that's exciting," he says of Grease: Live.

And while the Grease movie's iconic Danny Zuko might not catch the performance on Fox tomorrow night, he will watch it eventually. "I'm going to see it at some point," he said.

A few weeks ago, Travolta revealed to E! News that the Grease: Live team did reach out to see if he'd perform in their production—"They did, but you know, that's my history," he confessed—and he is curious to see how it turns out. "Like Sound of Music and other things, to do a live production is kind of fun and it'll be interesting to see it."

Grease: Live airs Sunday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. on Fox. The People Vs. OJ Simpson will debut Feb. 2 at 10 p.m. on FX.
