Klaus Mikaelson is angry. VERY angry.

The Originals is back tonight—in its new Fridays at 9 p.m. time slot on the CW—and we'll find out just how the immortal werewolf-vampire hybrid (Joseph Morgan) will cope after he found the object of his affection, Cami (Leah Pipes), bleeding out, her throat slashed, in the final act of the midseason finale.

Explains showrunner Michael Narducci, "In the moments at the end of episode nine, when you see Klaus holding this woman in his arms and her throat is cut open and she's bleeding everywhere, he is about as angry as we've ever seen him. He's the one who kills people's loved ones. He's the one who destroys his enemies and tears them apart and ruins their lives."

But the tables have turned. Adds Narducci, "Now, someone has done that to him. And in a sense, it's his fault. Cami was targeted because she was close to Klaus. There's a certain element of rage, there's a certain element of guilt that he must feel. That could be when Klaus is at his most dangerous, when he wants revenge and he wants to take people down for what they've done to him."

As The Originals makes its move to Friday nights along with The Vampire Diaries, Narducci says the show won't change at all. "I don't think it changes anything," he says, adding, "We go to work every day and sit in that room try our best to write the best stories possible, and to write the stories that our production team can create in a quality that we expect and that make our actors happy and that they want to perform and tell great stories and that is true if it's a story on Thursday or it's Friday."

This new episode, "A Ghost Along the Mississippi," is acting as a "transition into the end of the first chapter of [season three], the arrival of these three sired vampires in town," Narducci says. "They have executed their plot against the Mikaelson family. There's been a serious casualty. And before long, there will be more casualties. There will be a game-changing shift in who our enemies are, and starting with the next episode, what their plan is and how things are going to escalate very quickly in terms of who is going to be siding with whom against the Originals. Our family, who started off this season very much at odds, is now backed into a corner together against this new threat."

The Originals now airs Friday nights at 9 p.m. on The CW.
