Mariah Carey Shows Off Her Engagement Ring on the Red Carpet With Fiancé James Packer

If a 35-carat rock doesn't make it official, then a red carpet appearance certainly does!

Mariah Carey and James Packer stepped out for their first red carpet appearance since getting engaged, and she brought her massive engagement ring along with her. The "Always Be My Baby" singer was all smile as she showed off her svelte figure in a curve-hugging dress all while her billionaire bae planted a kiss on her head. So cute!

The couple looked incredibly happy as they posed on the red carpet at the G'Day Los Angeles Gala Thursday night, where Packer complemented his fiancée's ensemble with a silky black suit. Carey kept her look fairly simple, donning straight hair and natural-looking makeup, but her ring is anything but low key. The huge, emerald-cut stunner is surrounded by baguettes all set in platinum, giving her sleek a look a little extra va va voom. According to Vogue, the band was left bare so that Packer could later inscribe it with a sweet message for his wife-to-be.

Packer proposed to the diva at her favorite Manhattan Restaurant, Eleven Madison Park. Although their courtship could be described as a whirlwind, these two were definitely a proper pair from the get go. "They fell head over heels in love with one another," an insider told E! News.

"It's crazy how perfect they are together, they both know it and couldn't be happier."

They first met in Aspen, Colorado, in 2014 at a movie premiere, and immediately became friends. When their friendship turned romantic, Steve Harvey told Carey he was a "lucky" guy but then she added she was "lucky, too."

Another source told us that once they kicked their relationship into full gear, they couldn't stay apart. "They have wanted to spend every moment together," the source explained. "They have a connection that is unparalleled; it's been a very beautiful experience for them both. If you spend even five minutes with them, you can't help but believe in true love."

So what makes these two so perfect for each other? It turns out, it's their thoughtful consideration for one another. "They are just very cute together, they like doing sweet things for one another," the insider explained. "They want to make each other happy."
