Nick Cannon has broken his silence regarding his ex Mariah Carey's engagement to Australian billionaire businessman James Packer—and he is maintaining his sense of humor.

Packer, 48, proposed to the 45-year-old Grammy-winning singer earlier this week with a 35-carat diamond engagement ring. Cannon, 35, had filed for divorce from Carey in December 2014 after six years of marriage. The two are parents to 4-year-old twins, son Moroccan and daughter Monroe. Packer, 48, split from second wife Erica Baxter, 38, in 2013. The two share three children.

Cannon took to Instagram Friday night to comment Carey and Packer's engagement, alongside an image of him lying on a hospital bed beside Kevin Hart—a screenshot from their satirical BET reality show Real Husbands of Hollywood—that bears the caption, "It's just a ring Nick."

"Ha! This made me laugh out loud for real!!! HILARIOUS!" Cannon wrote. "#AllLove Congrats to @MariahCarey and James! May God Bless Your Future Union... #GreatPeople #GreatCouple."

A source told E! News exclusively the TV and radio personality was not given a heads up about the engagement, although he knew "they would most likely get engaged" based on how their relationship was progressing.

"Nick is happy for them," the source said. "Nick's children like Packer and he treats them well, so that's what he cares about. Nick is on very good terms with Carey. Nick is really just focused on his career at the moment."

Carey and Packer began dating last summer and have often traveled together, domestically and abroad, with and without her and Cannon's twins. They visited Europe and Israel last June.

A source had told E! News exclusively last June that Cannon and Carey were on "better terms" than in the past and that he "is doing really well in his personal life and he just wants Mariah to be happy."

"He feels as long as his kids are in good hands, he will support any decision Mariah makes," the source added. "Mariah will always be in Nick's life that will never change. It makes Nick happy that Mariah is in a great place in her life between work and love."

Cannon said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in December he had not yet met Packer but wanted to, adding,  "I think that would be cool."
