So much for a break!
The guys of One Direction may be enjoying an extended hiatus without any major performances and scheduling commitments. But that hasn't stopped one member from working on some fresh new music.
In a new Instagram posted Saturday morning, Liam Payne decided to give fans a sneak peek into a brand-new track he just compiled. Cue the Directioners mania in three, two, one.
"Little Song I wrote for fun yesterday," he captioned the post as a black and white video played in the background.
While Liam has never officially confirmed a solo project is in his future, it certainly got fans buzzing about his plans for the next few months. Ultimately, we can only go off of what the X-Factor U.K. alums have shared and that's the reassurance that this isn't the end of 1D.
"There's more to come," Liam told E! News' Will Marfuggi at 102.7 KIISFM's Jingle Ball last month. "We obviously want to tour all these songs. We love them so."
He added, "I think the point of making the record to go on the break was to kind of give fans a thank you for this year, to wrap up what we've been doing for the last five years. It's been great for us."
And while this so-called break may last up to two years—we know, it hurts so—Liam isn't the only one who appears to be working on his own projects.
Just last month, Harry registered four new songs with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. The tracks titled "Already Home," "Coco," "Endlessly" and "5378 Miles" list only Harry as both co-writer and performer.
Regardless of what you read, sources close to the band insist that the guys plan to work together in the future. But for now, it's all about individual projects.
"They are great friends and fully support one another," one source shared with E! News. "They are very aware that they are able to work on their own stuff as well as remain together. This is an exciting time for them creatively and as a group."
