Celine Dion's brother, Daniel Dion, is dying of cancer, E! News has confirmed, days after the singer lost her husband to the disease.

René Angélil, who was married to Celine, 47, for more than 20 years and was the father of their three children, died on Thursday at age 73 after a long battle with throat cancer.

The Canadian pop singer's rep confirmed to E! News on Saturday that Daniel, 59, has terminal cancer. He is one of Celine's 13 siblings.

Their sister Claudette Dion told Le Journal de Montréal that Daniel was suffering from cancer of the throat, tongue and brain was currently hospitalized. She said family members, including their mother Therese, have flocked to his side.

"It's very painful," she said. "It's a matter of days or hours."

Celine has not commented about her brother.

She recently revealed that Angélil's funeral will be held next Friday at Montreal's Notre Dame Basilica, the same church the two were married in 1994.

"He will be remembered as a gentle man, generous and kind, an unprecedented visionary, a modern Pygmalion, a Renaissance man," read a tribute posted on Celine's Facebook page. "All who had the privilege of knowing him and of working closely with him, whether personally or professionally, salute a leader and a man of great intelligence and wisdom."
