Like so many, Nicole Kidman will never forget David Bowie.
"He was my first concert. Can you believe it?" the Oscar winner told me exclusively last night at the Unicef Ball at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. "It was a huge thing."
On Monday, Kidman mourned the late icon while shooting her upcoming HBO series Big Little Lies with Reese Witherspoon.
"We were shooting a yoga class and I was lying on the floor and in the middle of the takes and they were playing 'Ziggy Stardust' and I was crying," she said. "I loved David Bowie."
Bowie's song "Nature Boy" was also featured in Kidman's 2001 film Moulin Rouge.
A post on the singer's Facebook page on Sunday night announced the tragic news that the singer passed away just two days after his 69th birthday.
"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer," the post read. "While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy during their time of grief."
Bowie is survived by two children, Duncan Jones and Alexandria "Lexi" Zahra Jones, as well as his wife Iman, whom he had been married to since April 24, 1992.
Christie Brinkley recalled last night how she helped the couple conceive their daughter Alexandria "Lexi" Zahra Jones, now 15.
"Iman always told the story in such a charming way," Brinkley wrote in the caption for a pic of the couple and their baby daughter. "'It took two blondes to get me pregnant David Bowie and Christie Brinkley!' 'You see...' Iman explained to me, 'in Somalia they say if you are having trouble getting pregnant you must hold a baby all day' so I handed her my baby, Sailor, and she held her all day long ...and sure enough, it worked!"
