Reese Witherspoon will ring in her 40th birthday in March, and while that number may frighten some people, the actress can't wait to celebrate the milestone.

In chatting with Harper's Bazaar magazine for their February issue, Witherspoon dishes on her big plans for her special day.

"You know, live music, eating, kids [with friends and family in Nashville]," she says. "I wanted to hike Machu Picchu. But then I was like, ‘Wait, I did enough hiking last year.' I'm done with hiking for a minute."

But in more than just the material celebrations of her birthday, the blonde beauty is excited to revel in how far she's grown emotionally over the years.

"I'm much more open now," she tells the publication. "In my 20s, I was scared of everything. I didn't know what my career was. I didn't know why people liked my movies. I was wary of interacting with people. I was 25 when Legally Blonde came out, 26 for Sweet Home Alabama, and 29 for Walk the Line. And I was scared, really scared."

She continues, "Now I feel like a different person. It's a great thing getting older. You are who you are; you say what you mean."

Part of the woman she's become includes being a mother to three children—Ava, Deacon and Tennessee—a wife to Jim Toth, a business owner, a producer and a highly sought after actress. So what does she do when she has a minute to relax in between all of that?

"You know what I like to do? Reorganize bookshelves and my sock drawer," she laughs. "[My husband] Jim's like, 'What have you been doing for four hours in your closet?' I'm like, 'Um, reorganizing my underwear?'" LOL!
