The CWThe CW's new superhero series Legends of Tomorrow may be in a world all its own, but it's not quite leaving its parent shows behind.
During a panel in front of television reporters ahead of the show's premiere, executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that Legends will still intersect with Arrow and The Flash, but not in the way we're used to those shows intersecting. "It's intermittent throughout," Guggenheim told reporters of the connections between the shows. "Because they're a band of time-traveling rogues, as it were, it's harder for Arrow and The Flash to be connected with it story-wise throughout the season. That said, if you know the histories of Arrow and The Flash, it should be fun in its own way."

It's a New Team
While all of Legends' characters originate in the comic books, they've never worked together as a group before. "All of the characters are part of the comic books," explains executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, but "they've never been incorporated in this way. They've never been a team before."
They're Aware of the Doctor Who Similarities
And they're not just talking about the fact that star Arthur Darvill spent three years on the iconic sci-fi show. Both shows jump through space and time, but the producers are quick to note that Darvill's time lord character, Rip Hunter, existed in the comics before Doctor Who began.
There Are Real Stakes
In the first two episodes, we learn that the Legends team are not able to return to an event in which they've actively participated in (meaning there are no do-overs if they mess something up). Says executive producer Phil Klemmer, "We wanted to give away our get out of jail free card. ... It's important to have real stakes and real consequences and real deaths on the show."
Legends of Tomorrow premieres Thursday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
