Well, this certainly bodes well for Dr. Maggie Pierce's love life.

Grey's Anatomy has made Giacomo Gianniotti, who plays hot new intern—and Mer's half-sister's bedroom buddy—Andrew DeLuca, a series regular, E! News has confirmed.

Gianniotti joined the long-running ABC hit in the season 11 finale, where the inexperienced doc was mistaken for a resident. As season 12 has progressed, he's not only knocked boots with Maggie (Kelly McCreary), but become Arizona's (Jessica Capshaw) roommate, as well.

The Hollywood Reporter first broke news of Gianniotti's promotion.

Gianniotti is the latest in a line of easy-on-the-eyes men to be added to the Grey's cast as series regulars, following Martin Henderson's recent debut as Nathan Riggs and Jason George's promotion to series regular after recurring for several seasons as Bailey's (Chandra Wilson) husband and fellow doctor Ben.

While Gianniotti's promotion brings the promise of extra eye candy when Grey's returns from winter break next month, the first look at the season's second half also has us worried for Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) life after catching a glimpse of her laying bloody on the hospital floor. February can't come soon enough.
