The Golden Globes are this Sunday. And you guys know what that means. It's officially the start of award season. Say it with us...

We know how these award shows will play out: beautiful people will wear beautiful things and win beautiful trophies and say beautiful things. Why do we continue to be pulled into these things every single year?

We'll tell you why! Because you never know when amazingly awkward s--t is about to go down, thus making the award show 100 times better. Sometimes the moments are endearingly awkward. Something they are hilariously awkward. And sometimes, yikes, they're just awkwardly awkward.

Here are the 32 most amazingly awkward award show moments from the past few years to prepare you for the beginning of the 2016 award season:

1. John Travolta gives Scarlett Johansson a smooch on the 2015 Oscars red carpet

Kevin Mazur/WireImage

ScarJo's side-eye was on point that night, at least.

2. Ricky Gervais mocks The Tourist right in front of Johnny Depp at the 2011 Golden Globes

He made a couple jabs at the expense of the critically-panned film, all while Depp watched from just a few feet away.

3. Jennifer Lawrence falls while accepting her Best Actress Oscar

Like a baby deer learning to walk.

4. Jennifer Lawrence falls: the sequel

Our favorite thing about this moment is how she claws at her friend's back as she goes tumbling.

5. Sofía Vergara is put on a spinning pedestal while a man speaks

#Feminism

6. Jeremy Renner's joke about Jennifer Lopez's "globes"

We get it. Women have boobs.

7. Cate Blanchett strokes her SAG Award

How could she not?

8. Orlando Bloom makes this face while presenting, presumably to summon a demon lord

Same, Zoe Saldana. Same.

8. Chrissy Teigen has an unfortunately pained crying face

NBC

It never gets old. And she took the mocking like the champ she is.

9. Meryl Streep shaking what her momma gave her

Meryl can do anything!

10. "Drunk" Glenn Close

This is for sure in our top 10 favorite GIFs of all time.

11. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler make a scathing joke about James Cameron

And Jessica Chastain's priceless reaction is the cherry on top.

12. Kanye West interrupts Taylor Swift's speech at the VMAs

Kevin Mazur/WireImage.com

Though the bad blood has been settled between them, let's never forget how it all started.

13. Steve McQueen faux-claps for John Ridley after he won Best Adapted Screenplay

We smell beef.

14. Nicki Minaj asks Miley Cyrus' "what's good?!" after accepting her VMA

The question that launched a thousand "OH SNAP" tweets.

15. Sir Paul McCartney is told to sit down while dancing

How dare you, whoever you are?!

16. Julia Louis-Dreyfus furiously makes out Bryan Cranston

We don't blame her; he had a really sexy, tiny mustache going on that night.

17. John Travolta swings for Idina Menzel's name...and misses

Two words: "Adele Dazeem."

18. Benedict Cumberbatch photobombs Margaret Cho and Meryl Streep

So graceful.

19. Gwyneth Paltrow looks bored as hell at the Golden Globes

Was she pissed at the water? Annoyed with the ceremony? Hungry? Angry? Hangry? Just caught at an awkward angle (it happens to everyone)? This audience shot of Gwyneth Paltrow with husband Chris Martin was tweeted about to death and is still the go-to GIF to use when people are bored with award shows.

20. Brendan Fraser forgets how to clap

Bro, just smack your hands together and then point. Not both at the same time.

21. Tommy Lee Jones looks like he wants to hurt someone at the Golden Globes

YouTube

If looks could kill, we'd all be dead, and so would most of Hollywood.

22. Emma Thompson throws shoes away

Shoes or drink? Keep the drink. Always keep the drink.

23. Jennifer Lawrence T-Rex's up behind Taylor Swift

Creep level: expert.

24. Prince side-eyes the crowd at the Grammys

He had zero time for your nonsense.

25. Madonna falls offstage at the 2015 Brit Awards

Listen to Edna Mode next time. NO CAPES!

26. Bono doesn't want to hug Diddy

Why don't you wanna hug Diddy, dude?!

27. Angelina Jolie's leg takes over the Internet

Jose Hernandez/Prensa International/ZUMAPRESS.com

If we had a leg like that, we wouldn't stop sticking it out either.

28. Jon Hamm literally crawls onstage to accept his Emmy

Fox

If we waited that long to get an Emmy, we'd probably ninja roll up to get it, too.

29. Kanye almost pulls another Kanye to Beck

Thankfully, he resisted the temptation.

30. This dude tries to subtly walk offstage behind Neil Patrick Harris

Nailed it?

31. Jacqueline Bisset gives a long, rambling, confusing and profanity-laced speech at the Golden Globes

We're convinced she's still giving this speech somewhere.

32. And finally, basically the entirety of James Franco and Anne Hathaway's Oscars telecast

Bob D'Amico, ABC

Tina Fey said it best when she cracked this joke about Anne's Les Misérables performance: "I have not seen someone so totally alone and abandoned like that since you were onstage with James Franco at the Oscars."

We can't wait to see what other awkwardly awesome moments are coming our way this year. See you guys on Sunday!
