Eva Longoria is in no rush to marry Jose Antonio Baston.

The actress got engaged to the president of content and television at Grupo Televisa late last month, and at least for now, Longoria hopes they can enjoy their engagement rather than plan every detail of their wedding day. Asked about her fiancé on NBC's Today Monday, the TV star gushed, "He's amazing! He's gorgeous and really the kindest human being I've ever met. And he's really private! So, I never talk about him, because he's always like, 'Don't talk about me!'"

Savannah Guthrie joked, "We don't want to be the source of your first fight."

Somehow we don't think Baston will be too upset with Longoria. After all, she had only the nicest things to say about him. Later, when asked about setting a wedding date, she admitted that it's the furthest things from their minds. "We haven't even discussed it. I'm still in the glow of the engagement," she said. Then, describing the proposal, she said, "It was such a surprise. It was in Dubai and it was in the desert. We're still absorbing that moment. I'm still applauding him for how beautiful and amazing it was, then we'll talk about the big fat Mexican wedding."

Longoria was on Today to discuss her new NBC sitcom, Telenovela, in which she plans a Spanish soap opera star who doesn't speak Spanish. "I was developing it in my production slate, and when the first draft came in, it was so funny," she said. Longoria explained that she originally did not plan to play the "vulnerable and "crazy" Ana Sofia, but she "fell in love" with the role. "I knew I was going to go back to TV one day," she said, "but the bar was set so high from Desperate Housewives that I was like, 'I don't know.' I was a little gun-shy, and I loved the time off!"

Telenovela premieres tonight at 8:30 ET on NBC.

(E! and NBC are both members of the NBCUniversal family.)
