Before the Christmas holiday, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt flocked away to Vietnam, just the two of them, for a short, romantic getaway.

The country is the birthplace of their 12-year-old son Pax, one of their six children, who they adopted in 2007, and the couple has visited it several times. Accompanied by several men, Jolie, 40, and Pitt, 52, were spotted visiting the capital city of Hanoi and sailing on a speedboat and kayaking in Ha Long Bay this week.

The two were dressed casually, wore sunglasses and were all smiles.

Last week, Jolie and Pitt and their kids were spotted in nearby Cambodia, the birthplace of their eldest child, son Maddox, 14, who was adopted in 2001.

The actress is directing a Netflix film based on human rights activist Loung Ung's memoir First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers, which is about the author's experience as a child soldier during the Khmer Rouge regime in the '70s. Maddox will be involved in the production, Netflix said in a statement in July.

"I was deeply affected by Loung‘s book," Jolie was quoted as saying. "It deepened forever my understanding of how children experience war and are affected by the emotional memory of it. And it helped me draw closer still to the people of Cambodia, my son's homeland."
