The stars aligned at the world premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens—hair and all.

Countless leading ladies stepped out on the red carpet of the grand Hollywood debut of the newest installment, all while paying homage to one of the original character's classic hairstyle.

Princess Leia, portrayed by Carrie Fisher decades ago in 1977, became a cultural phenomenon of the franchise after debuting oversized "cinnamon buns" in the initial film.

Almost 40 years later, those buns were reincarnated by famous fans of the series, among them newlywed Sofia Vergara, who rocked a set of traditional buns parted down the middle and loosely secured by bobby pins.

The Colombian beauty, who made her first official red carpet appearance alongside husband Joe Manganiello since their nuptials in late November, kept the rest of her look classic and sexy in a little black dress with a plunging sweetheart neckline, metallic open-toed pumps and statement earrings.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress Lupita Nyong'o also commemorated her co-star's former hairstyle, but with a twist, rocking one full oversized bun bordered by five mini buns.

Though the film takes place in a "galaxy far far away," Nyong'o's style was actually reminiscent of the ornate sweeping updos of the 1960s worn by silver screen legends like Fisher's mother Debbie Reynolds. Either way, we totally plan on spending hours tonight trying to imitate it tonight.

Her hair looked so beautiful, we almost forgot to mention her stunning iridescent sequined gown with modern peek-a-boo cutouts at the waist. With this look, she completely nailed a fashion mark befitting of a legendary movie star.

Model Karrueche Tran also sported her own version of the buns, rocking mini braided versions on the top corners of her head. Tran looked like a shining Hollywood star as she strutted along the red carpet in a white plunging suit jacket, matching striped pants and gold flash tattoo choker necklaces.

Finally, there was Grammy nominee Janelle Monáe who ditched the buns altogether and instead opted for a modern twist on a Princess Leia-inspired braid.

It began wrapped on the top of her head and then fell down along her face and shoulder, acting as a rocker chic accessory to her gold and silver plated midrift-baring dress.

Ever the fashion daredevil, Monáe proved once again she can turn just about anything into a new trend and this braid is no different—we expect to see it on the runways next season.
