Can we expect an "All of Me" 2.0, dedicated to John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's baby?
The 36-year-old crooner and his 30-year-old model and TV host wife announced in October she is pregnant with their first child, following a fertility battle. Legend recently sat down with E! News to discuss his feelings about becoming a father in 2016.
"I don't really do New Year's resolutions. I do like, 'new albums resolutions' where I focus on what I want to do for each album cycle and what I'm trying to do creatively with each album...and then in my personal life, I want to be a great dad," he told E! News exclusively.
"It's already inspired me," he said. "I've already got some ideas that have come to me since we got pregnant. Definitely the idea of being a father is exciting to me and it's inspiring some creativity in me."
Legend recently performed a gig in New York in collaboration with Stella Artois' 'Give Beautifully' holiday campaign, during which he sang his new ballad, "Under the Stars."
Legend's 2013 breakout No. 1 hit, the haunting ballad "All of Me," was inspired by his and Teigen's relationship. She appears in its music video. The two wed that year.
Many popular music artists produce songs dedicated to their children. Examples include Kanye West, who paid tribute to his and Kim Kardashian's daughter North West, 2, in "Only One," Macklemore, who released "Growing Up (Sloane's Song)," about his and his wife's daughter Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty, and Jay Z, who raps about daughter Blue Ivy Carter in the track "Glory," released just after he and Beyoncé welcomed the child in 2012.
Legend and Teigen have not revealed the sex of their baby.
The singer told E! News her pregnancy is "an exciting journey."
"I'm not nervous at all. I'm excited. It might be a girl, it might be a boy as well—50/50 chance."
"I hope we'll be good parents," he added. "You just try to raise kind, smart, worldly kids that, you know, turn out to be good human beings. All you can do is try and set an example...and then hopefully teach them the right things."
