Real talk: When Harry Met Sally is one of the best romantic comedies ever, and The Mindy Project's Mindy (Mindy Kaling) and Danny (Chris Messina) are one of the best couples on TV (or Hulu, whatever). These two facts we can all agree on, right? Now it's time to talk about that devastating midseason Mindy finale.

The episode, a tribute to When Harry Met Sally, ended with Mindy contemplating breaking up with Danny. At the very least, they're possibly going to be spending some time apart. "When Mindy Met Danny" looked back at the couple's relationship over the years, and ended with Mindy returning to her old apartment, removing the "for sale" sign and taking measurements to see if Leo's crib could fit. Basically, bad news bears for our beloved couple.

Before we freak out, there are two main things to consider when wondering about their future: One, this season Danny has gone from being absent to being a total d-bag. He was away for several episodes (most likely to accommodate Messina's busy indie film schedule), and when he returned, he had all sorts of misogynistic ideas about how his fiancé should be staying home with their son and not working.

Would it be so bad if Mindy left because it turns out Danny's cranky, old-fashioned side is the prevailing part of his personality? Girlfriend is more than qualified to make her own decisions about whether she wants to work and how she wants to raise her son.

Two, if Mindy and Danny are like Harry and Sally, that means they're destined to be together. Maybe this can be a wakeup call for Danny to check his craziness and realize he's acting unreasonably. It's merely a bump in the road on the way to their eternal happiness! If Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal can make it, certainly these two crazy kids can.

While we're holding out hope for the docs to make it after all, it honestly wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if they didn't. Mindy has always managed to pick herself up after a brutal split—it's one of the best things about her personality.
