Karl Lagerfeld is bestowing the ultimate Chanel honor upon Kristen Stewart.

Chanel's famed creative director has hand-selected the actress amongst a highly selective pack of the brand's muses to star as Coco Chanel herself. In the yet-to-be-released short, K.Stew will slip into the ultimate It-girl's skin, donning some covetable Victorian-inspired threads—complete with a frilly white collar—in the high-fashion period piece.

"She can look like Chanel, and I wanted to show Chanel through all the decades of her life and the comeback in the 1950's," Lagerfeld said of Stewart via press release.

In the whimsical flick, titled Once and Forever, Lagerfeld again uses his creative genius to retell an imaginative tale from the Coco's life. And instead of time warping back to the 19th century Austrian court of Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph I (as he did last year with the help of Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams), he's chosen to shows Chanel throughout various stages of her life in the context of a behind-the-scenes film set, from costume tests to script meetings and all the glitz and glam of old Hollywood.

"If I had made image after image of Chanel's past, it would be boring," Lagerfeld commented on the film's nature.

In addition to Stewart, Geraldine Chaplin will also take on the role of Coco in various parts of the picture. Jérémie Elkaïm, François Marthouret, Amanda Harlech, Jamie Bochert, Jake Davies, Baptiste Giabiconi and Laura Brown will also star in the upcoming film.

The film will be released to coincide with Chanel's Métiers d'art collection presentation in Rome on Dec. 1.
