It's a GMA family reunion!

Good Morning America recently marked its 40th anniversary and to celebrate, former hosts, weather anchors and other stars, such as Diane Sawyer, 69, Charlie Gibson, 72, and Sam Champion, 54, appeared together on the show on Thursday and on its "40 for 40" livestream.

The old gang recalled memories of working on the show. Gibson talked about working with Sawyer, his former co-anchor, on her first day. She joined GMA in 1999 after working as morning news reporter for CBS, a correspondent for CBS' 60 Minutes for five years and later, as a co-anchor of ABC's Primetime Live and 20/20

"What I remember best is at the end of the show, 'cause I had done this before, and you'd done it with CBS but you hadn't done it for years and years, and I remember at the end of the show, you just collapsed on the desk with your head down," recalled Gibson.

"I was a magazine reporter, I was on the plane to Afghanistan all the time, it never occurred to me that being in this studio was going to be a decathlon," Sawyer joked. "I couldn't find the cameras and I was going to the wrong interviews."

Sawyer left the show in 2009 to succeed Gibson as anchor of ABC World News. David Muir, 42, took over the position in 2014.

Champion, who departed GMA in 2013 after serving as a regular weather anchor for seven years, also recalled what it was like working with Sawyer.

"I remember seeing Diane Sawyer walk in and I swear...you were wearing a blue jacket and skirt, and the set just got so quiet because Diane Sawyer was walking through the set," he said. "I have all these incredible memories."

SURPRISE! We couldn't have a family reunion without Kathie Lee! #GMA40

Other former GMA stars who visited their old TV home included David Hartman, 80, who co-hosted the first show under its existing name in 1975, Joan Lunden, 65, his co-anchor in the '80s, and Josh Elliot, 44, who greeted his current co-anchors Robin Roberts, 51, George Stephanopoulos, 53, Lara Spencer, 46, and Amy Robach, 42, with whom he shared a quick and sweet peck.

Hey there, Josh Elliott! #GMA40
