Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's marital relationship has changed, but their role as parents is staying the same.
The exes have made it very clear that children are their first priority, and for the sake of daughters Violet Affleck, 9, and Seraphina Affleck, 6, as well as son Samuel Affleck, 2, they're doing their very best to keep family life normal. That's why, sources tell E! News, that Jennifer, 43, and Ben, also 43, will be spending the upcoming holidays together with their kids.
"They are a unit," says a source. "They are all about the kids and making sure they are okay. They are committed to parenting together."
They will be spending time with both sides of the family as one unit, adds a source. Neither Ben not Jen want to split up and do separate things when the holidays are all about family time and being with loved ones. Both exes feel, as well, that even though they aren't a couple, still being a family is the most important thing.
Both Jen and Ben have continuously put any personal differences aside in order to remain amicable and able to spend time together with the kids. Even throughout "nannygate"—when rumors, which Ben's rep adamantly denied, claimed the actor was dating the Affleck children's former babysitter—the former couple worked through things behind closed doors.
"There was a lot of tension between them for a while, but it wasn't all about the nanny," a source close to the couple told E! News last month. "It's never easy for a couple going through a split."

"There are still a lot of issues, but she has put them aside for the sake of the her family," added the source. "Jen's number one priority is the kids and always has been...When they [she and Ben] spend time together, it is for the kids."
This past month, for example, Ben's been in Georgia filming, but on the occasions he's been able to return to California to see Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel, a source tells E! News that Jen has planned fun outings for the entire family to do together. This past Saturday, they fivesome visited Duff's Cake Mix to decorate cakes together. Both Ben and Jen are working very hard to have a friendly relationship for the kids, says a source, adding that they agree the most important thing is to provide a stable and loving home for the kids.
