It's no surprise that Missy Elliott killed it with her recent comeback. Millennials everywhere lost it when she dropped her new video for "WTF (Where They From)" with Pharrell Williams. Rightfully so, as she Houdini'd around the time we had Juicy tracksuits in our closet. What exactly convinced her to return to the spotlight? In an interview with i-D, it appears Missy credits Pharrell, and her recent Super Bowl performance with Katy Perry, as the nudges she needed to get back into music. Missy said about Katy, "First of all, I can't thank her enough. A thousand thank you's wouldn't be enough. She allowed me to perform my records, on her set and she said 'If you have a new record, you should perform it, this is the time to perform it'. At the time I had some records but I didn't feel as strong about them. I said I'd rather go out there and give them the classics."

She slayed those classics if you recall, and Pharrell thought so too. After the Super Bowl Missy says he contacted her. "He said 'I'm not trying to push you, but people miss you. Do you see what happened out there? Have you seen the charts'? I think I was still in shock. It still hadn't registered. He was like 'I want to get in the studio with you.' Who turns down Pharrell?" We're currently on our knees thanking the universe for Katy and Pharrell. Missy, if you're reading this, please stick around forever.
