CBSThe Late Show took a somber tone at the end of Friday's episode as Stephen Colbert got emotional while speaking about the deadly Paris attacks.
At least 129 people were killed in six locations in the French capital. The terrorist group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks, the deadliest in Paris since World War II.
"We end tonight's show with a heavy heart because we taped all of tonight's show and then we found out about the horrific attacks in Paris today," Colbert said on The Late Show after a performance from Michael Flatley and his Lord of the Dance dancers was shown.
"I know that not much is known right now. We do know there have been many deaths and the crisis is still ongoing," he said. "President Hollande has declared a state of emergency and President Obama has promised the United States will do whatever it takes to bring those terrorists to justice."
"We add our thoughts and prayers to everyone in Paris and now, um, we'll see you on Monday. Um," he began, taking a long pause and appearing to fight back tears. "Goodnight."
Like The Late Show, The Tonight Show is also pre-taped and a regular episode was aired on Friday.
"In light of the tragic events in Paris, we're skipping tonight's live tweet of the show," the Tonight Show's Twitter page read.
