After 18 years of marriage, what's a little bit of honesty between two people?
Judd Apatow appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Thursday and talked openly about a couple of issues in his life that he didn't even know existed. Over the course of the past year, the phenomenon of the "dad bod" has come full force, and unbeknownst to the director superstar, he has become the face of it!
He recalled a time when his friend explained the idea of a "dad bod," which is pretty much someone who is out of shape but manages to simultaneously look good, and sent him an article that included a photo to better explain it. Lo and behold the photo was Apatow and his daughters at the Kids' Choice Awards.
"You became the face of a new movement," host Stephen Colbert joked.
"Yes, of crappy bodies," the 40-Year-Old Virgin writer added.
He also joked that his wife, actress Leslie Mann, doesn't understand it because "she has no sense of what attractive is based on marrying me," Apatow quipped. "She doesn't get it.
"There will be an ugly guy and she's like, 'He's cute,' and there it is."
While she might not understand the concept of attractive vs. unattractive, Apatow might never come to terms with the fact that he's been mispronouncing his wife's name for almost two decades.
"'It's not [pronounced] Lez-lie,'" Apatow said his wife told him just the other day. "'It's Less-lie.' I've been saying it wrong the whole time."
Suffice to say he was more than shocked at her correction. "'Well, why didn't you tell me that in 1995?'" he said he asked her. "And she said, 'Because I thought you probably wouldn't be able to make the adjustment and I didn't want to be mad at you.'"
Here's to hoping Apatow makes "the adjustment" after 20 years of an entirely different pronunciation!
