Scott Foley on Why You (Probably) Won't See a Felicity Reunion Movie

Plus, the actor revealed he was frustrated with his character's relationship with Olivia on Scandal

Scott Foley is just like you. The Scandal star said he was tired of seeing Olivia Pope walk all over Jake, he's put a lot of thought into what a Felicity reunion movie or revival would look like, and he is a sucker for a cute dog and crazy cat.

"I was frustrated with it. Because it's like come on, at a certain point as a guy, either you're in or you're not. Like, 'I don't have time for this.'" Foley told E! News about the state of Olivia and Jake at a Swiffer and Bark Box event. "But I'm not this season. I think the show has gone in a great direction because she has basically chosen Fitz and Jake has had this new mentality. Even [the November 7th episode] he had this great speech where he sort of told Olivia how he felt about her and what she's become, and I think she was due to hear that. I think a lot of the audience was feeling that way, I could be wrong. No one ever puts Olivia in her place and I don't know if Jake did, but he was trying to, so it's been fun for me."

Scandal's Shonda Rhimes has been promoting her new book, The Year of Yes, and Foley admitted, "I'm terrified to say 'yes' to a lot of things to be honest with you."

"I'd be terrified to say yes to stupid things, like drugs. I'm such a straight, narrow guy. I walk a fine line. I'm afraid to do anything that would jeopardize my family," he said. "So I'm always afraid to saying yes to staying out late. I'm boring like that."

Another thing Foley would be afraid to saying yes to: Asking Rhimes if he was killed of Grey's Anatomy because she didn't like him. The Scandal and Grey's Anatomy creator admitted she killed a character because she didn't like the actor. She didn't name names though.

"Oh god, well let's think about who she killed off," he said.

The list of deceased characters is a long one, one that also includes Foley's character on Grey's Anatomy.

"I was killed off. She didn't like me when I was on Grey's? Is that the thing? I might be afraid to say yes to asking her if I was killed off Grey's because she didn't like me," he joked.

Of course Rhimes then cast him in Scandal, so...yeah, it wasn't Foley.

One thing he did say "yes" to recently was the Felicity reunion with Keri Russell and Scott Speedman for Entertainment Weekly. "So cool, right?" But don't expect a full on Felicity reunion movie or revival.

"Someone brought it up in an interview, you know, 'Would you guys ever be open to it?'… I think Felicity worked because it was such a specific time in these character's lives. I don't have any interest in seeing Noel as a computer programmer and Ben as a whatever the hell he is, a stock broker," Foley admitted. "I think it would be great to get us all together to do something, but I think to have her be Felicity, me be Noel and he be Ben, I don't think it would work. I think you lose some of the magic, some of it that's really connected in the nostalgia. I don't think it would work."

Foley joined forces with Swiffer to help launch "Welcome Home," a new campaign encouraging pet adoptions (and providing the necessary cleaning supplies needed to keep after the four-legged friends). Swiffer and Bark & Co., the makers of BarkBox, teamed up to give away 10,000 Welcome Home Kits to shelters across the US. Cleaning up after animals is something Foley is well versed in.

"I had the weirdest thing the other day. I keep my cat box in my closet and I was walking in my closet, I didn't know my cat was in there, and as soon as I walked in, he ran out like he got embarrassed or something," he laughed. Foley, a dad to three kids and a dog (Frankie) and a cat (Stinky Joe), said another one is down the line for his family, just in time for the holidays.

"I rescued Frankie about a little over a year ago and I've been an animal advocate for a while. When Swiffer came to me, I wasn't sure about the partnership. I believe in rescuing animals, but I didn't see the connection. Then they told me even though a lot of parents, and I'm a parent myself of three kids, even though a lot of parents think it's important to have animals in the house, as I do, a majority of those are concerned or won't get a pet because of the mess…Look, personally, the benefits far outweigh the detractions, but if we can help some people who can't get over it get over by giving them some free Swifffers, some coupons for Swiffer stuff, that can help them with the mess, I think it's a win-win."
