Brooks Ayers may have been duping people far longer than we first thought.

Fans of the Real Housewives of Orange County have speculated for several seasons that Vicki Gunvalson's man hasn't been completely honest. Whether it's his occupation, place of residence or health, several castmembers have questioned his stories and honesty.

But after E! News exclusively confirmed that Ayers lied about his cancer treatment and was never treated at City of Hope, some are wondering how long he has been dishonest about his health.

A source close to Ayers has come forward and alleged to E! News that Ayers has brought up cancer for almost ten years to his benefit.

"Brooks never had cancer. He uses it as an excuse to get his way about whatever he is trying to accomplish," the insider shared with E! News exclusively. "He used it in the past and is using it now."

The source continued, "He came out on the show and claimed he had cancer and at first I thought it was karma and maybe this time he really does have cancer since he used it manipulatively before. But no. I knew that it was a lie."

On Wednesday morning, Ayers broke his silence on the controversy and shared his "regret" about some of his actions.

"Words cannot express the deep regret that I have in fabricating documents to 'prove' to the world that I, in fact, have cancer. What I did was wrong and inexcusable. I acted alone, without Vicki's knowledge, to produce documents for a reality TV show in hopes of putting doubts about my cancer to rest," Ayers told E! News in an exclusive statement Wednesday. "I never intended to disclose my actual medical records or details about my private and personal medical history, thus the rationalization of presenting documents that weren't true simply for a 'storyline' for the show."

Our source, however, insists that Ayers "never had cancer." In fact, he didn't look sick and was known to party when he traveled down to the South.

"It's just sick. It's totally sick," our insider shared. "People ask me why I think Brooks made it all up. And I say how else would he be able to turn the whole season about him? Then when he realized he really didn't get away with it he leaves. He will go on and leave a path of destruction in the next town".

"He doesn't have a job. It's the most baffling thing," our source goes on to allege. "No one knows the last job he has had. No one knows how he makes money."
