Heather Dubrow knows a liar when she sees one.
Last week, Brooks Ayers submitted fabricated medical documents to E! News in an effort to prove that he had been treated for cancer at City of Hope Medical Center. However, after the facility said he was never a patient, Ayers issued a statement Wednesday and admitted his actions were "wrong and inexcusable." He also insisted that he "acted alone" and that his ex-girlfriend, Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson, had zero knowledge of his transgressions.
Many of Gunvalson's co-stars had been skeptical about Ayers' cancer diagnosis from the start. As PodcastOne's Dubrow told E! News' Catt Sadler in an exclusive interview airing tonight at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., "The root of it is, Brooks is proven to be a con man. Tamra [Judge] has said this for years. I didn't believe it until this year; now I see it. But the question for Tamra and Shannon [Beador] and Meghan [King Edmonds] and myself is now Vicki's involvement in it, and when did she know? Because that's...You know, he doesn't affect us. He is who he is. He's gone from all of our lives, I'm happy to say. But Vicki is in our lives. And when did she know? I think I said in the reunion, 'We all agree he doesn't have cancer but when did you find out?' I said to her. So, I mean, those are the questions."
Gunvalson's own credibility has come into question since the bombshell reveal, while Ayers' integrity will be forever tarnished. In an exclusive statement to E! News Wednesday, he said he forged the documents "in hopes of putting doubts about my cancer to rest," adding, "I never intended to disclose my actual medical records or details about my private and personal medical history, thus the rationalization of presenting documents that weren't true simply for a 'storyline' for the show."
Going forward, Ayers said he will be keeping any news about his health private. In his statement to E! News Wednesday, he also offered his "sincerest apologies" to his "family, friends, loved ones, and those who are battling this horrid disease for any additional pain and/or stress that I have caused."
