Last year we told you about the Charlie Brown-style Christmas tree that ticked off the entire town of Reading, Pa.

The tree, which resembled the adorably sparse decoration in A Charlie Brown Christmas was deemed "ugly," causing the town to nearly take it down. Apparently some residents of Reading prefer the tales of Ebenezer Scrooge and The Grinch to Peanuts. But according to the Huffington Post, the town ultimately had a change of heart and decided to decorate the scrawny eyesore Peanuts-style—one red bulb and a blue blanket at the bottom.

Viva la ugly tree!

This year, however, seemingly to avoid huffs and puffs, the town opted for more traditional greenery right off the bat. Those who wished for a fluffier city centerpiece had their dreams come true this morning, according to the Reading Eagle. The lighting ceremony for the new 25-foot white fir will take place Nov. 20.

Now that's all fine and dandy, but we were kind of digging the non-traditional homage to Charlie Brown, to be honest. What's wrong with being a little unique in the name of Christmas, right?

Do you think the people of Reading overreacted last year? Sound off in the comments!
