Selena Gomez appeared to be in the throws of a hot new romance Monday night was she was photographed at New York City's famed Cipriani's seated next to Samuel Krost, a New York University alumnus who mingles among Hollywood's youngest circle of A-list stars, including runway regular Gigi Hadid

Following her appearance at Glamour's 25th annual Women of the Year Awards wearing a shiny fiery red cocktail dress with a white collar, the brunette beauty looked so stunning, it was almost impossible for Krost not to take notice.

The romantic vibes surrounding the table turned up a few notches when the pair's mutual friend, model Cully Smoller, who was also dining with them, got up to go to the bathroom. All of the sudden, the 23-year-old "Good For You" singer scooted closer to her rumored boyfriend to hold his hand.

The twosome's interaction quickly evolved. After talking closely into his ear, Gomez got up to sit on Krost's lap to chat even closer, wrapping her arms around him while whispering into his ear. Talk about one grand public display of affection.

While things are definitely heating up between the "Same Old Love" singer and her potential new beau, we wonder what her tumultuous former flame, Justin Bieber, would think about this burgeoning romance. While both parties have declared that they've definitely moved on from each other, the "What Do You Mean?" singer recently told Billboard his love for his past teenage girlfriend may never go away.

"I'm proud of the woman she is today," he declared. "When you love someone that much, even if something comes between you, it's a love that never really dies."

Gomez echoed a similar sentiment of support when she spoke to Refinery 29

"At this point, there is no anger," she said. "There's closure in a very good, healthy way."

While it remains to be seen what will come of this blossoming fling, as Gomez always said, the heart wants what it wants.
