Antonio Banderas isn't one of those celebrities wanting to slap their name on someone else's product, make a buck, and call it a day.

The 55-year-old actor, currently starring in The 33, cares about fashion, and in order to create the best designs possible, he needs to learn the craft. So, this past August, Banderas enrolled as a student at London's Central Saint Martins, and as he revealed on LIVE with Kelly and Michael Friday, he's happy to be studying "at "one of the best fashion design schools in the world."

Banderas confirmed to co-host Kelly Ripa that while his eventual goal is to become a fashion designer, we shouldn't expect to see Antonio designs hitting the shelves anytime soon. "It's going to be probably four or five years," he said of finishing school. "It's going to depend on my work as an actor—I'm going to be in and out of the school."

At Central St. Martins, "they prepare something called capsules" which usually list four to five weeks, Banderas explained. It's "very intensive," he noted, "and the best way to do it is just to be humble, elbow on the table, and start studying from the beginning."

Banderas has achieved a lot already in his career, but his fellow students are "quite impressive" as well, he said. He thinks they appreciate him going "to the [same] level to start studying with them, elbow to elbow."

But while Banderas and his fellow students are all learning the craft side by side, he notices some of his classmates take a different approach to their designs. "When you see the young students going there, especially the first 2 years, they go really crazy," he said with a smile. "What they present, their collections, are pieces of art basically. Then, they have to make that wearable, because sometimes it's not wearable at all."

Hopefully by the time Banderas and his peers finish school, they'll all have mastered creating wearable works of art! In the meantime, Banderas' new movie The 33 hits theaters Friday, Nov. 13.
