In some seriously WTF news of the day, a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge needs proof that Bindi Irwin's father, Steve Irwin, is in fact dead.

Yes, E! News has learned a judge denied Bindi's Dancing With the Stars contract because she is a minor and needs both of her parents to sign off on the release in order for her to get paid by ABC.

Bindi's mother, Terri, has already signed off on the contract, handing over all rights to the money she makes from the show, but the judge is requesting her father's signature, too—or at least a death certificate—as proof that he's relinquished his rights to her earnings.

It's unclear if the judge is unaware who her father—the famous "Crocodile Hunter"—is as she makes no reference to his death, but unless you've been hiding under a rock for 10 years, everyone knows he died while filming his famous show in 2006.

So far, we can confirm the rights of Bindi's contract with DWTS states that she was guaranteed $125K for joining the show. By making it to weeks 3 and 4, she received $10K per week on top of that. Then, she was granted an additional $5K for each week she made it through week 7. By getting through week 8 and 9, she would be granted an additional $30K.

Thus, she has already racked in $230K. If she gets through the finals weeks, she will take home an extra $50K, which would earn her a total of $360K overall.

Aside from struggling with her contract, she's had a bit of a rough go the last couple weeks. In chatting with E! News' Sibley Scoles, she admitted that she's suffering from some pretty gnarly pain: losing almost all of her toe nails.

"Three of them have come off now. The others are superglued and it's like, ugh," Bindi told us. "They keep falling off and they bleed. They bleed and bleed and bleed."

However, she says being partnered with someone like Derek Hough is truly healing. "Honestly he's like a walking vitamin just being around Derek," she explained to us.  "You feel good being around Derek."
