HBOHow do you celebrate Girls season five? If you're HBO, you release a teaser of Lena Dunham dancing in her sports bra with a group of women, including her TV mom Becky Ann Baker. It's time to dance like no one is watching.
Girls ended season four Hannah (Dunham) telling Adam (Adam Driver) she didn't want to get back together. Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) decided to move to Japan, Marnie (Allison Williams) performed solo after Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) bailed on her, and Caroline (Gaby Hoffmann) gave birth. The last scene jumped ahead in time with Hannah firmly with Fran (Jake Lacy). Meanwhile, Hannah's father, Tad (Peter Scolari), revealed he was gay.
The cast also includes Jemima Kirke, Alex Karpovsky and Andrew Rannells. Dunham, Judd Apatow, Jenni Konner, Ilene S. Landress, Bruce Eric Kaplan, Murray Muller and Paul Simms all serve as executive producers.
There might not be that much time left for Girls. While promoting her new newsletter, Dunham indicated season six could be the last for the HBO comedy.
"Never say never, but that is the way we're thinking about it right now and we're starting to think about sort of how to wrap up the storylines of these particular young women," Dunham said. "It's really exciting. I started working on this show when I was 23, and I'm going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world."
Season five of Girls kicks off on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 10 p.m. with Togetherness following at 10:30 p.m.
