The Good Wife, oh The Good Wife. This episode, "Payback"…it was fine. But it just felt straight up unnecessary at times.

The case of the week: Alicia and Lucca, now firmly together (with their own firm, your slash fanfic is for the other stuff), took on a for profit university while Jason investigated some things relating to it. Not exactly the most thrilling case. Here's what you need to know: Alicia and Lucca were successful in the end. I think. The most interesting part, for me, was seeing how Alicia and Lucca worked together. There's obvious growing pains, but i couldn't help but smile when the objected in unison. It was cute.

As part of the case, Alicia sent Jason off into the world to investigate scam artist and the university. He is mischievous and definitely doesn't play by the rules. Alicia seems to kind of like that. It's been made abundantly clear that Alicia Florrick in season seven is a far cry from Alicia Florrick in season one. She's down with breaking rules when it comes to it. In fact, it seems like she sort of likes it in some instances. The sly smile when she invited him in for a drink at the end…it was telling and enough to make any Good Wife fan flail. "That is why I drink," Jason said to Alicia when she said by the end of the day it's hard for her to think straight. She was holding a glass of red wine. "What do you drink?" Fade to black. Now I don't think that means they slept together, I think it means there's more to them and I am excited to explore that. Did Jason beat up that guy? Maybe. But he did it while being super charming. Goodbye Kalinda's bat, hello Jason's tire iron?

Over in the campaign world, Marissa returned and ate cereal at Alicia's. That scene stuck out to me. She also convinced Alicia to fire Eli so he could go run a guy's campaign in Israel. She fired him. He then came back at the end of the episode and said he wanted to return. She said OK. Simple as that. You really didn't think they'd get rid of Eli, did you? Meanwhile, Ruth's campaign strategy—be like the Republicans—is working for Peter. But it's not really working for Peter and Alicia, as the dad from The Wonder Years pointed out.

At Lockhart and Agos, Diane and Cary dealt with Howard's ageism accusations. It ended with them getting sensitivity training. Sorry, but Diane Lockhart/Christine Baranski deserves better than mediating Howard and Cary. Don't fail me, Good Wife writers. Don't fail the character either. On a different note, what happened to the associate and the gay Cary storyline? Still waiting on that.

This was the definition of a filler episode. Next, please...

Some other things:

"Geezer, Gargoyle, Old fart, Flaccido Domingo." - Howard reading the insults.

"Well, you know." – Diane on what they make fun of David Lee about.

The Good Wife airs Sundays, 9 p.m. on CBS.
