Derek Jeter and Hannah Davis Are Engaged: "They Can't Wait to Spend Their Lives Together"

The 41-year-old retired New York Yankees star and the 25-year-old 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model are engaged, E! News has learned. No wedding date has been revealed.

"They are extremely excited and in love!" a source told E! News on Wednesday. "They can't wait to spend their lives together."

Katie Couric told E! News she is very happy for Jeter.

"I'd say it's about time. It's about time he put a ring on it. I'm happy for him. I wish him all the happiness in the world," she said on Wednesday at DuJour magazine's event celebrating its inaugural Gamechangers issue, which features five split covers including one showing the baseball star.

"You know, there aren't many events we can feel happy about and celebrate these days, so when somebody finds love, that's a great day," Couric added.

Jeter and Davis have been linked romantically for about three years. The two have largely kept their relationship private.

Davis dodged a question about Jeter in an interview on NBC's Today show in February. The following May, the two made their red carpet debut as a couple, at the 2015 Met Gala.

Jeter and Davis had sparked engagement rumors back in 2013, when the model was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her ring finger.

Jeter told NBC News in September 2014, the month he retired from Major League Baseball, he he wants a family once his Hall of Fame career is over.

"Who knows when it's gonna be?" he said. "But I look forward to it."
