Kobe Bryant is speaking out about Lamar Odom's progress.

Before the start of his 20th season, the Los Angeles Lakers star shared how happy he was with how far his former teammate has come.

"It puts things in perspective a little bit more. This is what we do, this is not who we are," he shared with reporters at practice Tuesday afternoon. "Sometimes basketball can get in the way of life and the way of living."

Bryant continued, "He's a brother above everything else...it's important to see him get back on his feet. It's amazing to see him doing so well. It truly is remarkable."

Odom's long road to recovery continues in a Los Angeles hospital where he is being cared for by a team of doctors and professionals.

E! News has learned that Odom doesn't need a kidney transplant at this time. Additionally, Rob Kardashian has not arranged to donate one of his kidneys despite what has been speculated by several outlets.

The 35-year-old athlete is "doing better" and "making small steps every single day," a source tells E! News, and he's undergoing new treatments and therapies every day with a team of professionals.

While he has a long road ahead, E! News has learned that Odom is taking limited visitors including his children and Khloe Kardashian. Doctors, however, do not want him to deal with everyday germs or too many people as his immune system is low and having energy is important.

"It is hard to get to Lamar at this point," another source told E! News before sharing his progress. "Every day his functions are improving."

Odom was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel on Oct. 13. He was discharged from a Las Vegas hospital and transported to Los Angeles for further treatment on Oct.  19.
